Fr Ian Petit OSB (1922-1996), from Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire, England, became a well-known speaker and retreat leader.  He gave retreats and spoke at churches of all traditions around the world bringing together Catholic spiritual direction, evangelical preaching of the Gospel, and the importance of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives. He always in his very gentle way challenged us to believe and reminded us of our position in God. FR Ian once asked me,  “Paul do you think anyone will really be interested in listening to these talks?”  I assured him that these talks will one day be heard all over the world and then I felt quite tearful . It turned out to be true and It was not long after that Fr Ian went to be with His Lord.
